I've photographed this recipe "Texas Toast"-style using sliced bread because I like the ability to have double-sided garlic butter pieces. It's crispy on the edges and a little soft in the middle. 😍 But if you have a favorite gluten-free baguette, feel free to slice it in half lengthwise for more traditional garlic bread.

Ingredients
Here is everything you'll need to make this gluten-free garlic bread:
Gluten-free sliced bread or baguette: Use what you have on hand! Sliced bread will give more of a "Texas Toast" style, and a baguette will give a more traditional garlic bread texture. I used Schar Artisan White Bread for these photos.
Salted butter: If you're using unsalted butter, add ¼ teaspoon salt.
Olive oil: Gives the bread a nice golden color when baked and makes the garlic butter quite spreadable.
Fresh garlic: I think fresh gives the best flavor, but in a pinch, you can definitely use pre-minced garlic.
Fresh parsley: Gives nice color and freshness to the garlic bread.
Garlic powder: Just a little bit amplifies the garlic flavor without overpowering it.
Parmesan cheese: This is optional, but I love the little bit of flavor and saltiness it gives the garlic bread.
Substitutions
There are many ways to change up this gluten-free garlic bread depending on your preferences. Here are some substitution suggestions:
- Dairy-free or vegan. Use your favorite plant-based butter and omit the cheese.
- Cheesy garlic bread. Add ½ - 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese to the garlic butter mixture. Top with extra parmesan before serving.
- Use sliced bread, baguette, pitas, etc.! You can slather this homemade garlic butter onto whatever you like.

Expert Tips
Here are some of my top tips and tricks for successful gluten-free garlic bread:
- Ensure the butter is nice and softened so it is spreadable.
- Check that the garlic is sufficiently cooked before unwrapping and broiling.
- Watch the top of the bread while broiling! It can brown fast!
- Serve immediately. Garlic bread is best when served fresh out of the oven!
- Freeze unbaked garlic bread so you always have some on hand.

For these images, I used Schar Artisan White Loaf. My first recommendation would be to use any gluten-free white loaf or baguette. Udi's, Little Northern Bakehouse, and Canyon Bakehouse all have good white loaves. You could also use a gluten-free baguette like this one from Schar, Aidan's Gluten Free, or Udi's. Or of course any homemade gluten-free bread.
Of course! Pre-minced garlic is so great for convenience. Use about 1 tbsp.
